xtracurricular activities in Junior High School are an important part of building the kind of school atmosphere we want to have. Through clubs and sports, our students build character and become a more cohesive group. Sports we participate in include football, volleyball, softball, wrestling, track, and boys and girls basketball. The clubs currently available at Mogollon Junior High include the Science Club, 4-H, and the Ski Club. We invite you to take part wherever your interests be, and make these years great.

Mogollon Jr. High athletic teams compete in the White Mountain League with ten other schools. Whether you'd like to be on one or more of our teams, or you'd like to participate from the stands, we welcome your support. Please join us for:

Science Club

Join the Science Club and take advantage of the unique opportunity we have to get involved with science related service projects and backcountry outdoor skill development. Agencies such as the USDA Forest Service, Arizona Game and Fish, and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality work with the club on interesting service projects that are also hands on learning experiences. We are especially fortunate to be able to take trips where students can develop their skills in caving, hiking, camping, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and rafting. We encourage all Jr. High students to strive to meet the school eligibility and health requirements so that they can join us in these great experiences. The Science Club is led by Mr. Steve Marlatt.

4-H Club

We are fortunate to live in an area where we can enjoy a rural lifestyle and the beauties of nature. We try to take advantage of some of these opportunities through our participation in the 4-H Club. Mogollon 4-H club is an informal education program designed to teach students life skills. It can be described as people sharing, doing and learning together through all kinds of projects, events and activities.

We encourage you to join and choose a project that fits your interest. You will also be given opportunities to participate in other group learning activities and events such as fairs, trips and fundraising activities. Mr. Jim Maner heads up our program, and we hold our meetings on an average of once per month. See you there!

Ski Club

Enjoy the great winter weather in the White Mountains, and join us at the Ski Club. We'll take 3-4 trips when the slopes are open, so keep your grades up, and show your great behavior, and you should be able to join us at least once during the season. If you get behind on your school work, hurry and catch up so you can come too. We'd love it if every student at school could go at least once. For more information please contact Reed Porter.
