What is your attendance policy?
-
State law mandates that the school documents all reasons for student absences. We recognize that parents retain the right to keep their children out of school for any reason they deem important. In exercising that right, you also assume responsibility for the loss of any academic material presented during the student's absence. We may also hold you responsible for the student's loss of credit if absences become excessive. We urge you to be sure your child attends school everyday. When it is not possible, please inform the office personnel of the reason for the student's absence. Please verify all students excused by a phone call or a note for each day missed within 24 hours of the student's return to school. We will also report student absence information to you, the parents. Please see the Student Handbook for more detailed information regarding our Attendance Policy.

Will my child be allowed to leave the campus during the school day?
-
Once a student arrives at school, he/she may not leave the campus at will. We expect each will remain on campus as long as school is in session. We understand there will be occasional exceptions to this, such as:
- Medical or dental appointments – check out through the office.
- Students who become ill while at school – check out through the school nurse.
- School sponsored or chaperoned activities – signed parental permission slip

Is there a school Dress Code?
-
Yes. Mogollon Jr. High School does ask its students to follow a code of dress. The Governing Board recognizes that a student's good dress and grooming contributes to the accomplishment of curriculum goals and the District's educational program as formulated by the District and mandated by State statute. The Governing Board also recognizes that student dress and grooming practices can affect the health, safety, and general welfare of all students. A brief description of some of the general dress code rules are as follows:
- We will not allow a student to wear any clothing in a manner that is disruptive to theeducational process.
- We ask that students wear all shorts, skirts, or dresses at least at fingertip length.
- Please don't wear sagging pants/shorts or low hugging pants.
- Hem your clothing properly.
- Do not wear bare midriffs, halter tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps, or spandex as outer wear, and if you wear sleeveless shirts, please be sure that the straps are at least the width of a dollar bill.
- Please do not wear shirts and coats in a manner that conceals sagging clothing or other items that are contrary to school rules. Tuck in your shirt. Please be sure your t-shirt is no longer than fingertip length.
- Do not wear anything with inappropriate language written on it.
- Please wear belts that fit your waistline and are secured in the belt loops.
- In the interest of safety, shoes and sandals should provide protection to the foot and enable students to move quickly without the fear of losing a shoe in the process.
- We do not permit facial piercing, other than on the ears.
- We do not permit chains. This includes wallet chains.
- Students may wear hats only in PE and Agriculture, and only with the permission of the teacher in these exceptions.
- We do not permit students to wear sunglasses in any fashion (including on top of the head) in buildings.
Again, this is a partial explanation of our Dress Code. Please see the Student Handbook for complete details set forth by the District Governing Board. Students who are found violating any part of the Dress Code will have to change into appropriate clothes that either the student has previously brought with them, or that we will furnish.

Yes. If a student would like to ride a bike to school, we ask that he/she park it in the bike rack we provide. We also recommend that students bring a lock and secure their bike to the rack. We do not allow students to ride bikes during school hours, at lunch time, or at recess. If a student has an expensive bike we encourage them to keep it at home and not bring it to school.

What should we do in the case of a severe snow storm?
-
When severe weather creates hazardous conditions, we may choose to delay the normal school schedule two hours or we may suspend school to ensure our students' safety. Students and parents should monitor news reports via local radio stations between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. If it ever becomes necessary to dismiss school during normal school hours, we will attempt to notify all parents.

Do Mogollon Jr. High students have access to the World Wide Web at school?
-
For students to access the Web, they must have a signed parental agreement on file in the office. The Heber Overgaard USD #6 has provided internet access for teachers and students to use as a valuable resource. Students are not to use the internet for any of the following purposes:
- Accessing pornographic or indecent sites.
- Visiting chat rooms.
- Setting up or visiting personal email accounts.
- Purchasing any item using the school's internet.
- Downloading inappropriate items (music, games, etc.)
- Any use that is not directly related to an educational resource or assignment.
We have set up the internet to provide teachers and students with a wealth of educational resources. Any student who abuses these privileges will forfeit his right to have access.
